Monica Sanchez Robles, far from using excessive, rhetorical and unnecessary Baroque manners, or an abundance of colour and texture, has chosen a much more difficult and intellectual terrain. Her work once again connects with the modern in its minimalist appearance : total austerity in the use of colour and its varieties, frugality in the abundance in material, sobriety in shapes and elegance in composition, articulate her present day intentions.
Monica's latest work includes drawings that once again prove to be simple, clean, and at the same time, firm and poetic. Monica's drawing interprets the subject matter and converses with her painting. In some cases one cannot distinguish which is the more important, in others one appreciates an agreed intention by the artiste, who witnesses this dialogue in which the drawing and painting statements become independent. Difficult to see the idea came from although the intent and the reason-why are easily understood.
Finally, there is an aspect that I briefly wish to mention. I am impressed by the links that exist between her attitude towards life and the poetry of her work in these autobiographical diaries, her expressive talent reaches the highest peaks of overflowing sensitivity.
